Artist talk and reception to be held in Gardiner Oct. 24

Oct. 182017

GARDINER — There will be a reception for artist Lise Becu from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Two Gramps Brewing, where the public can meet the artist and hear about her work.
The event is free and open to the public.
“Mother,” a sculpture by Becu, was unveiled in Johnson Park in May in conjunction with Artwalk Gardiner as part of the Art in the Park program and will be removed at the end of October.

Through a collaboration between the Artdogs Studios, Gardiner Main Street and the city of Gardiner, the community has been able to support an annual park installation. “Mother” was created during the 2015-2016 Viles Arboretum Sculpture Symposium and represents the second sculpture borrowed from the Symposium program. The partnership enriches the Kennebec corridor and promotes both the symposium and the Gardiner community.
Two Gramps Brewing is next to Johnson Park, across from ArtDogs Studios, Circling the Square Fine Art Press, Monkitree Gallery and is in a building housing artist studios and SpinOff Studios, a non-profit art center for adults with disabilities.
