MANCHESTER — Lakeside Orchards hosted the annual Manchester Apple Festival Sept. 30. It was as packed as ever, with the parking attendants from Hope Baptist Church kept very busy. The Suzuki violinist from Pineland were back, displaying their skill with the bow, while other live music was provided by the band Az Iz. There was a pie-eating contest and plenty of challenging activities for children including bungee jumping and an obstacle course. A dunk ank and an apple launcher also provided some excitement.
Many crafters had tents set up to move their wares. All were fortunate, as the weather was wonderful.
A parade was held at 11 a.m. with visitors lining up from the front of Lakeside Orchard up to the elementary school. Inside the orchard’s store, the line of customers kept cashiers busy, moving apple varieties and baked goods. A separate parking area was available for those picking their own apples.
To round out the day, the Monmouth Community Church held a bean and casserole supper that evening at the church.
