WINTHROP – Winthrop Cub Scout Pack 604 held their Pinewood Derby on March 25 at the American Legion post.
The pack, which began in February, has Scouts from the Winthrop and Monmouth area. In the Pinewood Derby the Cubs, aided by an adult, carved their cars from blocks of wood and decorated them before racing them on the track.
Bailey Poisson, of Monmouth, a Webelo, finished first overall, with James Knightly, of Winthrop, second and Alice Knightly, of Winthrop, a Bear, finishing third. Rosalyn Burns, of Winthrop, won Best of Show.
Silas McLeod, of Winthrop, was the top racer among the Tiger Cubs and Logan Normandeau, of Monmouth, won among the Lions (kindergarten Cubs).
The winners went on to race at the district level April 1 in Gardiner.
