Urquhart talk on Maine public lands is March 15 on Zoom

LOVELL – Maine author Thomas Urquhart will be the guess of the Hobbs Library Speaker Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in a Zoom-only talk.
Urquhart is author of “Up for Grabs: Timber Pirates, Lumber Barns, and the Battles Over Maine’s Public Lands.” For the link, visit hobbslibrary.org. The talk is co-sponsored by the Greater Lovell Land Trust.
His book tells the story of how more than half a million acres of Maine came to belong to the people. With dramatic moments and colorful characters, the book weaves its way from 1820 to the present, providing an an overview of conservation and preservation in Maine.
Urquhart is the former director of Maine Audubon and has written extensively on Maine’s natural resources.
