Free Ski Day with Somerset Outing Club is March 4

SKOWHEGAN – Somerset Outing Club is offering a Free Ski Day at Titcomb Mountain from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4.
The outing club is covering the cost of lift tickets, equipment rentals, and ski lessons and provide a free lunch for all who register. Families can drive themselves or take advantage of free buses to and from the mountain, which is in Farmington. While the event is free, registration is required at movemorekids.org/projects/somerset-outing-club.
Free transportation is available from:
• Skowhegan or Madison municipal parking lots
• Carrabec High School, North Anson
• Athens Community School
• Moscow Elementary School
Somerset Outing Club, a partnership between Move More Kids and Skowhegan Outdoors, offers free activities on the first Saturday of every month to all Somerset County families.
“The response has been incredible,” said Kristie LeBlanc, assistant director of Somerset Public Health. Trips highlight all the Maine outdoors has to offer, including hiking, winter recreation, coastal activities, and more. Recent outings were beginner hikes up Roundtop Mountain and Mount Phillips and a pool day at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Fitness Center.
Somerset Public Health is a coalition of staff members, community members, organizations, and businesses working together to improve health in Somerset County. The goal is to make Somerset County a healthier place to live and work for the families it serves by improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, stopping tobacco use, preventing substance misuse and promoting the responsible use of alcohol.
