Capital Area Scouts stay busy during the winter

Members of Augusta Troop 603 didn’t let a little snow get in the way, as they joined VFW Post 887 in December to put wreaths on graves of veterans who have been overlooked in the past, at the old state veterans’ cemetery at the corner of Leighton and Mount Vernon roads in Augusta. The Scouts cleared markers and stones to honor more than 30 veterans. Participants were, row one, from left, Scarlett Mudie, Willow Mudie, Lizzy Blais; row two, Jennifer Fortin, Marleen Lajoie (Col. USA), Anthony Fortin; row three, Michael Fortin, Jon Martin, Brian Franklin, Lynette Mudie, Lonwood Keller VFW, VFW Post Commander Brian McComb; Phillipe Blais, Craig Bailey VFW (MSG Ret.. USA). Also taking part were Joshua Demers (Cub Scout Den Leader, Mack Demers (Tiger Cub Scout), and Landon Demers (Lion Cub Scout).
BELOW: Sam Madison takes part in a Frisbee relay held by Pack 410 Tiger Den, of Vassalboro, as John Gray and Wesley Danielson help out. The pack held the event to learn about teamwork, good sportsmanship, following rules, and how to hustle. It was held at Vassalboro Community School.
