AUBURN – The Lewiston/Auburn, Tri-Town and Gray-New Gloucester Optimist Clubs are sponsoring an essay contest on the topic “Who is an Everyday Hero That Brings Out the Optimism in You?” for area students.
The winner will advance to the New York-New England district contest, where a $2,500 college will be awarded to the top essay. The deadline to enter is Feb. 14.
The contest gives young people the opportunity to develop their written skills and express their personal opinions about the world they live in. Applicants must be under the age of 19 as of Oct. 1, 2022, and attend school in the United States. The winner of the district contest for the last two years has been sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn club.
