AUBURN – Rain may be in the forecast for New Year’s Eve this year, but that won’t stop the city of Auburn from ringing in 2023, beginning at 3 p.m., with fireworks at 6:30 p.m.
Admission to the event, which is on Main Street and Festival Plaza, is free.
The city has adjusted the event schedule so the celebration can take place (hopefully) before the rain begins. Originally scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., New Year’s Auburn will now begin at 3 p.m., with the same line-up of bands, food trucks and local craft breweries.
“Auburn has a history of adapting to adversity,” said Mayor Jason Levesque. “And while a little rain never stopped anyone here in Auburn from having a good time, we figured it would make sense to move the start time up a little bit. Now, our attendees will have the chance to visit one of our participating breweries or one of Auburn’s other great restaurants or pubs after things wrap up at Festival Plaza.”
The Jumpin’ Willys will kick things off at 3 p.m. pn the New Year’s Auburn stage on Main Street, near Festival Plaza. Fan favorite Hello Newman, who have performed at every New Year’s Auburn since its inception, will take the stage at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a fireworks display at 6:30 p.m., and the event headliners, The Mallett Brothers Band, will perform immediately following the fireworks, at around 6:45 p.m. The event will wrap up at 9 p.m.
In addition to music, New Year’s Auburn will also feature food trucks and local craft breweries. Food trucks will include Pinky D’s poutine truck, Gettin’ Sauced BBQ, and Portland Pie Company. Craft brews will be served up by Lost Valley Brewing Co., Gritty’s, Side by Each Brewing Co., Mason’s Brewing Co., Nonesuch River Brewing, and Craft Brew Underground. Local non-profit An Angel’s Wing will be offering non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.
