The Table, in Norway, continue to offer weekly free breakfasts, clothes, hikes and more

NORWAY – The Table, 160 Main St., continues to be busy as the year comes to an end.
The Table is a community-based organization made up of people from the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, Norway Grange and individuals. Its mission is to meet the needs of the community by offering healthy and safe programs. Its motto is “There’s always room at the table.”

Weekly Free Breakfast: The Table’s free weekly in-person breakfasts also have a pickup option, and are at 8:30 a.m. every Saturday at the Norway Grange, 15 Whitman St. Teams that would like to volunteer to serve a breakfast are always welcome. The in-person breakfast have been a great way to combat food insecurity as well as fulfill a social need for many in the area.

HOGs (Healthy Outdoor Group) continues to hike as winter approaches. The Table Facebook page has updates and schedules. The group is open to anyone who wants to get out for some exercise and enjoy the outdoors.
The tentative December schedule is:
9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 – Cascades Falls. Meet at the General Store in Andover, where the group will proceed together to the trailhead. The hike will leave the trailhead at 9:30 a.m.
9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 – Mystery Mountain, 1783 U.S. Route 2, Rumford. Meet at the trailhead.
1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 — Hawk Mountain, 100 Hawk Mountain Road, Waterford, meet at the trailhead.

The Table LEG: The Table Ladies Encouragement/Enrichment Group meets at 6:30 a.m. Mondays at The Square Restaurant in South Paris. The group follows the devotional reading of the upper room, shares with each other and offers hope and encouragement for the week ahead. All women are welcome. There is no registration, just show up.

Free Clothing: Free clothing is offered 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as 10 a.m. to noon the last Saturday of the month at The Table, 160 Main St. Staff is on hand to help customers find specific clothing and to aid in an efficient flow through the building. The Table accepts lightly used clothing and footwear 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday the first two weeks of the month.
The Table is in great need of children’s lightly used or new clothing and shoes. Money to buy new socks and underwear is also needed.
The Table is also seeking free space to house its clothing program from any individual or business with an empty in-town building and wants to give back to the community.

Recovery groups that meet at the table are: Narcotics Anonymous meets 7 p.m. Tuesday, Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and Al-Anon meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
