Former president of SeniorsPlus board receives service award

LEWISTON — Patricia Vampatella, a member of the Board of Directors of SeniorsPlus and its chairwoman until this past June, was recognized by UnitedHealthcare as one of their 2022 New England Champions proving that “Amazing Knows No Age.” The award was presented at a dinner held at held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Vampatella is one of six individuals in New England who received the award celebrating NewEnglanders 65 and older making extraordinary contributions to the health and well-being of their communities. She was recognized for her contributions through her volunteer work at SeniorsPlus.
Doug Flutie, former NFL quarterback and recipient of the 1984 Heisman Trophy, presented the award to Vampatella.
“Pat has always been a force on the board, championing our strategic planning efforts so they become realities and other initiatives,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, president and CEO of SeniorsPlus, who nominated Vampatella for the award.
A resident of New Gloucester, Vampatella has volunteered for SeniorsPlus for almost 20 years, mostly at the board level. In 2017, SeniorsPlus presented her with its annual Margaret Ross Award for outstanding volunteerism. A registered nurse, she has taught at colleges and worked at hospitals in the area.
