Greene Village Day is Sept. 10

GREENE – Greene Village Day will be celebrated Saturday, Sept.10, at the athletic fields at 1 Recreation Drive. It’s the first Greene Village Day in four years.
The day will begin with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at Androscoggin Grange, 99 Main St., followed by opening ceremonies at the town memorial at the town office at 8:45 a.m., including a flag-raising led by local Boy Scouts. At 9 a.m., a parade that will proceed down Main Street, ending at Greene Central School. Mildred Rideout, the town’s oldest resident, be grand marshal.
Other highlights are food, available until 2 p.m., a chili cook-off, pie bake-off, a book sale at Morse Library, granite cutting demo at Greene Historical Society, displays, contests, a fireman’s muster, 50/raffle, kids’ raffle and more, at the athletic fields, 1 Recreation Drive.
This year’s theme is “Small Town Roots: Back Together Again.” Deborah Conrad won the logo contest, and T-shirts and sweatshirts with the logo will be for sale.
Parking is available at Recreation Drive (limited/handicap/vendors), Greene Central School. Farris Equipment rear parking lot, Androscoggin Grange, Julia Adams Morse Memorial Library.
