WINTHROP – Kennebec Land Trust’s annual meeting, as well as a celebration of some new conservation land, are coming up in August.
The dedication of the Oak Hill Conservation Area, Norton Road, Fayette, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.
The land trust acquired 120-acre property in December, and in June added a 14-acre parcel on the east side of Hales Brook. The Hewett family, Terry and Michele Briggs, James Dwyer, and many donors, made the conservation project possible.
KLT President Janet Sawyer and Ron Hewett will provide brief comments, then participants will be free to enjoy refreshments and a hike on the property.
To get to the area, Fayette General Store on Route 17, continue north for 2.5 miles. Turn left on Fayette Corner Road and then take an immediate left on Norton Road. Continue for half a mile to a parking area in the field.
The land trust annual meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Camp Androscoggin, in Wayne. The annual meeting will feature a guided walk on the Perkins Woods Preserve, a bring-your-own picnic lunch, the annual awards, and summer intern research presentations.

Optional morning paddle to Norris Island on Androscoggin Lake (contact KLT for information).
10:30 -11:30 a.m., Perkins Woods Preserve guided walk (meet at Camp Androscoggin)
Noon-12:30 p.m. Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch
12:30- 1:30 p.m. Annual Meeting and Intern Presentations
