Maine Forestry Musuem Logging Festival Days are July 15, 16

RANGELEY — The Maine Forestry Museum is 41st annual Logging Festival Days will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 26, at the museum’s fairgrounds, 221 Stratton Road (Route 16) in Dallas Plantation.
Friday’s events, with free admission, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include artists, crafters, vendors, live music, a cookout and beer garden. The beans for Saturday’s bean hole dinner will be buried at 3-4 p.m., and the public is welcome to watch.
Saturday’s events begin at 10 a.m. with the Logging Parade on Main Street. This year’s parade theme is “Artistry from The Forest.” The parade includes logging trucks, floats, bands, antique cars and more. Smokey Bear will also be in attendance. Prizes for Best Loaded Truck. Most Appropriate to Logging (logging industry equipment), Best Fitting Parade Theme for floats and other entries will be awarded. Events at the fairgrounds will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include the same lineup as Friday, as well as the bean hole dinner, wood carving demos, barrel train rides for kids, other children’s activities. All children’s activities are free of charge.
The Lumberjack and Lumberjill competition, with up to $3,000 worth of prizes, will include the Axe Throw, Crosscut, Underhand Chop, Bow Saw, Hot Saw and Vertical Chop.
Admission is free for museum members on Saturday, This is a do not miss for your Rangeley vacation weekend. Free admission on Saturday for members.
