AUBURN – The Androscoggin Historical Society will host open houses at Knight House this summer for children, as well as two events at the West Auburn Schoolhouse in September.
The Knight house/Downing Shoe Shop is at the north end of the Garden Hilton Hotel on the West Pitch of Great Falls.
Summer activities for children are free, and held from 1 to 4 p.m. They will be focused on the following themes:
Saturday, June 25, Chores
Wednesday, July 13, Textiles and Spinning
Saturday, July 23, Old Games
Wednesday, Aug. 10, Using the Herb Garden Treasures
Saturday, Aug. 27, Preserving the Harvest
There will also be a Back to School Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the West Auburn Schoolhouse, corner of Boothby Street and West Auburn Road.
On Saturday, Sept. 25, the schoolhouse will feature Old Fashioned Board Games.
