HALLOWELL – The Gaslight Theater’s production of “I Hate Shakespeare!” will be performed in Augusta and Hallowell in July.
The plan, a hilarious rundown of Shakespeare’s classics that includes zombies, talking cows, and an appearance by Jerry Springer, by Steph DeFerie, is directed by Margaret Matheson, assisted by Richard Bostwick.
Performances will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 8, and Saturday, July 9, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Waterfront Park in Augusta, presented by the Augusta Downtown Alliance.
Performances will also be held at Vaughn Homestead in Hallowell at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, as well as 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17. The performances are during Old Hallowell Days weekend, so parking at Vaughan Homestead is strictly limited to showtimes only.
The performances are free, but donations are accepted at the show, or any time online, to support the nonprofit Gaslight Theater. Bring a chair, blanket, water bottle and snack.
