NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has scheduled both in-person and virtual classes and activities for May.
Programs are open to anyone affected by cancer, including caregivers. Masks are required for in-person events.
A special “Finding Your New Normal” class will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, or Tuesday, May 31. RN Barb Perry, a certified health and wellness coach will discuss recovery after cancer treatment and what steps will help maximize quality of life, ranging from reducing future risk to coping with emotions and stress.
Bost sessions will be in person at the center, 59 Winter St., as well as including a Zoom option. Travel assistance is available to attend. Signup required at 207-890-0329.
The Women’s Monthly Cancer Support Group meets at 12:30 p.m. at the center. It’s open to all women experiencing any type of cancer, and from diagnosis to survivorship.
The Men’s Monthly Cancer Support Group meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the center. It’s open to all men experiencing any type of cancer, and from diagnosis to survivorship.
The center’s weekly public drop-in hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. It is also open by appointment Monday through Friday. Masks are required.
Weekly virtual classes include meditation, chair yoga, mindfulness.
In-person classes include strength and balance, yoga and chair yoga (including in Harrison), craft and chat, and more.
Monthly activities, including crafts, drum circle, wellness share and more are also scheduled.
