Belgrade committies, 7 Lakes Alliance, to meet on lake protection April 27

BELGRADE — Recognizing that the health of Belgrade’s lakes is critical to the vitality of the community, three town committees, along with the 7 Lakes Alliance, will meet Wednesday, April 27, to discuss ways to work together to ensure lake preservation and protection.
The meeting will be from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in the Center for All Seasons, 1 Center Drive, off Route 27, just south of the village.
The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.
Chairs of the Lakes Committee, Planning Board and Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee will each give a brief explanation about each committee’s role, and the 7 Lakes Alliance will give an overview of the watershed management plans to ensure the health of the town’s five lakes –Great Pond, Long Pond, Messalonskee Lake, McGrath Pond and Salmon Lake.
The aim is to determine priorities for the the committees, along with potential implementation plans. Recommendations will later be presented to the Select Board for approval and guidance on how the groups should proceed.
