WINTHROP – Bailey Public Library will celebrate poetry month with “Poets in the Library” at noon Saturday, April 30.
The event focuses on the recently self-published book “A Simple Abundance” featuring more than a dozen local poets. Featured poets will read from their work in the King Event Room on the first floor of the library, 39 Bowdoin St. An open mic session will follow.
The event and book were organized by Claire Hersom, whose work has appeared in Yankee Magazine, and in 2011 was awarded an Emerging Artist Grant in Literature from the St. Botolph Club Foundation of Boston. Her poem “Norman Lee” was awarded first place by the Maine Poets Society as Best Poem about Maine in 2007.
