Community Credit Union, New England School of Metalwork, partner on welding program

LEWISTON — Community Credit Union and the New England School of Metalwork are partnering on a career development program for students who want to pursue a career in welding.
The nonprofit school is offering two 13-week comprehensive welding programs, with Community Credit Union offering financial support in the form of a loan program and two financial education sessions.
The New England School of Metalwork, in Auburn, is a 501-C3 nonprofit school devoted to the promotion and strengthening of metalworking skills. .
“Our team is committed to our mission to provide financial services to ensure stability for all members, employees and communities at all stages of life,” Jen Hogan, president/CEO of Community Credit Union, said. “As a small credit union, and a Community Development Foundation Institution, we are devoted to providing financial education in our community and supporting workforce stability wherever possible.”
Community Credit Union received its CDFI status in 2020 and was awarded $1.8 million in grants to be used in Androscoggin County to support lending programs to underserved populations, provide financial education in our community and more.
