BRIDGTON – The Rufus Porter Museum of Art and Ingenuity recently received a grant that will allow 14 qualifying Bridgton-area children to attend Camp Invention, a program run by the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust provided the scholarship grant money.
Camp Invention is a week-long summer camp for children going into kindergarten through sixth grade. A new curriculum is developed every year with customized activities that focus on creative thinking. This year’s program is designed to provide hands-on activities that will launch imagination and get confidence soaring as campers explore STEM fun from the oceans to outer space. This is all accomplished through activities, promoting problem solving, confidence creativity, and persistence.
Camp Invention is one of the ways that the Museum seeks to support the cultural and intellectual life of the Bridgton community, in addition to encouraging the creative inventiveness that Rufus Porter himself sustained throughout his life.
