Spiritual perspective on climate crisis is March 11 Food for Thought topic

LEWISTON — The Rev. Allen Ewing-Merrill will speak on the causes of the climate crisis from a spiritual point of view at the Friday, March 11, free Food for Thought presentation by the USM LAC Senior College.
The 11 a.m. talk will be held via Zoom.
Ewing-Merrill is executive director of the BTS Center in Portland, which seeks to catalyze spiritual imagination, with enduring wisdom, for transformative faith leadership. Ewing-Merrill will lead a conversation about the spiritual roots of the climate crisis and the work the BTS Center is doing to advance a spiritual response.
He has been a pastor for over 20 years, and has extended his work to include experience in advocacy, direct action and faith-based organizing around issues of social justice. A favorite quote he often uses comes from environmentalist Gus Speth is “The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed, and apathy.”
