Art-related in-person programs for kids to be held at Lewiston Public Library

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library has two art-related in-person programs for kids scheduled for March, both free of charge.
Make Art with ArtVan, a hands-on program for children 5-14 will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the Children’s Department. Children ages 5-8 must be accompanied by an adult. It is free and open to the public, with no registration required. All art supplies will be provided.
ArtVan is a mobile art program that brings opportunities for self-expression, personal growth and fun through art. All of their projects aim to inspire art-making with a variety of materials to explore. ArtVan programs engage all age groups, encourage time outside and reduce screen time, help youth stay connected, diminish stress, and provide release for unvented expressions of emotions, such as loss and confusion.
Graphic Novels to the Rescue will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Callahan Hall, on the third floor of the library. The program is free and open to kids up to age 12 and their family. Wearing a costume of a favorite superhero or graphic novel character is encouraged, but not required. Participants may stop in any time during the program. Participants will get to pose in front of a cityscape for a photo.
Activities will include (until supplies last): making a comic book, making a cape, coloring or making a mask, playing the “Make Your Own Graphic Novel Character or Superhero” game.
Participants will also get a free graphic novel to take home
