READFIELD — The Readfield Union Meeting House Co. depends on community help to complete restoration of the landmark, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Some of this work can be done from home. Volunteers will be reimbursed for any incidental expenses. And a benefit will be learning more about the fascinating history of this gem in the heart of Readfield.
For nearly 200 years, the Union Meeting House has existed because volunteers from the community gave their time and talent to build it, to maintain it and to improve it. Volunteers can help be part of that tradition. Volunteers don’t have to take on a whole task single-handedly unless they want to. They are just need to pitch in, helping to fulfill the mission to restore and maintain the Union Meeting House, and to renovate the vestry, for the benefit of the community.
The nonprofit is looking for people who could give a few hours a week helping with any of these tasks:
• Writing articles to local papers about projects and activities;
• Archiving news articles, pictures, programs, posters, etc. that relate to the Meeting House;
• Helping with USPS and electronic mailings;
• Acting as a volunteer coordinator;
• Collecting and editing articles for the quarterly newsletters, composing and laying out newsletter;
• Photographing/videoing events and projects about the Meeting House;
• Helping organize or conduct events;
• Helping with renovation tasks at the vestry.

Readfield Union Meeting House Co. is a Maine nonprofit corporation. The Union Meeting House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
