CANTON — To coincide with their town’s 201st anniversary, the Canton Historical Society will present the debut public screening of the film “Canton, Maine: A Small Town with a Rich History,” on Saturday, Feb. 26.
The screening will be from 2- 4 p.m. at 25 Turner St. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. The venue is handicapped accessible. The screening will also include a discussion of the film by members of the historical society’s Collection Committee.
The film, which documents the first 200 years of Canton’s history, was produced by the historical society in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the town’s incorporation, in 2021.
Food will be available to buy, including soda, freshly popped popcorn, hot dogs and candy. A 50/50 raffle will be held as a fundraiser.
The museum will also be open, and a special exhibit of last year’s bicentennial events will be on display. The Country Store will also be open, with items for sale including DVDs of the film.
The Canton Historical Society is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization devoted to the preservation and celebration of Canton’s heritage and history.
