Mount Vernon February Frolix returns with activities throughout the month

MOUNT VERNON — February Frolix returns this year, with a month-long slate of activies.
Age Friendly Mount Vernon will deliver puzzle bags to local seniors. Beside puzzle books and some locally developed puzzles, the bags will include treats.
To take part in the Snowman Slide Show, create a snowman out of anything – from snow to crochet – take a photo and email it to librarian@drshawlibrary.org, and it will be added to the slide show.
Videos of skits from previous years, as well as a new one developed by the Vienna Woods Players, will appear every Friday, beginning Feb. 4, on YouTube.
Activities, both outdoor and indoor, include:
Snowshoe hike at Ezra Smith Conservation Area, Tuesday, Feb. 8. Meet at the Community Center at 10 a.m. to share rides, since parking is limited. Snow date is Feb. 10.
Snowshoe hike across Lake Minnehonk, Tuesday, Feb. 15. Meet at the community center at 10 a.m. Snow date is Feb. 17.
Chair yoga with Anne Parker, 9 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, Mount Vernon Community Center. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.
Skating party and book reading, 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at town beach and Community Center. Manchester artist Helene Farrar will read the children’s book “The Deer Man,” which she illustrated. Hot chocolate and treats will be available. Snow date is Feb. 27.
Sledding party, Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2 p.m. at Leighton’s field, behind Dr. Shaw Memorial Library. Hot chocolate will be available.
Snowshoe hike on Snowmobile Trail 41A, starting at Leighton’s field, behind Dr. Shaw Memorial Library, Thursday, Feb. 24. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Community Center.
