Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary speakers to discuss mining, Senior College

BRIDGTON – Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary has scheduled two speakers for the coming weeks, both via Zoom.
On Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 a.m., Dr. Bruce Taylor will discuss the hazards posed to public health by mining in Maine. Taylor is board certified in pediatrics and anesthesiology, and has a special interest in the significance of environmental contaminants on health. He has served in several positions for the town of Sweden and is on the Board of Directors of the Greater Lovell Land Trust and Maine Waste to Energy.
On Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 a.m., Homer Pence, will talk about Bridgton Senior College. Pence has played a significant role with the Senior College since its founding in 2000, joining the board in 2011 and becoming chair in 2014. He has also been a presenter of one class each year on the subject of classical music or opera and is a founding member of the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival.
