FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2022 at 3:24 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2.
Briar Mae Harper was delivered by Dr. Tara Aumand of Franklin Health Women’s Care. Briar, the daughter of Natalie and Brandon Harper, of Strong, is 7 pounds, 15.2-ounces and joins brother Declan, who is 3.
As Franklin Memorial Hospital’s first baby of 2022, Briar’s family received a basket full of items including clothing, books, handmade hats, a plush stuffed giraffe, an infant spoon and more.
In addition to the distinction of being one of the first babies born in 2022 in Maine, Briar will be awarded a $500 Alfond Scholarship Foundation grant (provided to every baby born a Maine resident) that may go toward her future higher educational expenses.
