Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends hopes for a better 2022

GREENE — Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is unable to host its annual Christmas bake sale this year, normally the organization’s main fundraiser, and is hoping members of the community can step in.
The bake sale supports medical care for the cats Tommy’s cares for, as well as those coming through recovery care. Tommy’s lost its recovery care provider this year, and emergency money is needed to cover recovery care.
Among the struggles the organization has had are the life-threatening injuries suffered by the partner of Tommy’s cofounder Norm Blais, which left little time for fund-raising. Both she and her recovery kitty, which also suffered a spinal cord injury, are on the mend. The remarkable recovery of the kitty is one reason Tommy’s works hard to raise money and help cats that otherwise wouldn’t be helped, Blais said.
Tommy’s is a no-kill rescue that takes in abandoned and abused cats, gives them medical care and provides safe shelter for them to live in. The cats, who live in colonies, continue to be resilient despite adversity, Blais said. Tommy’s provides medical and personal care for cats, including removal of tumors to repairing wounds; cancer treatment; annual checkups; special diet foods (homemade); dispensing daily medication, whether injections and or fluids with regular medication; dental care; emergency care; hospice care; special needs care; care for disabled kitties (mentally, physically, emotionally) and homeopathic care.
The organization needs help for medical care, spay and neutering, surgeries, hospice care, materials for outdoor shelters and more. Tommy’s can be reached at normblais39@yahoo.com or Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.
