WESTBROOK — A grand opening will be held at Steep Falls Village Preserve in Standish from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23.
The preserve is part of the land conserved by the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, which conserves land in Gorham, Gray, Standish, Westbrook and Windham.
The new preserve has trails, wide meadow views, mature forest and a scenic wetland and water viewpoint on Tucker Brook. There will be a short ceremony at 1 p.m., and then participants will walk the trails as a group. There is plenty of space to stay socially distanced at the trailhead and along the trails.

Steep Falls Village Preserve is made possible after a land donation by Mark Anderson and individual supporters who donated to the project.
The trust holds conserved land with free public access preserves that include trails and water access. It is also the water steward of the Presumpscot River watershed and coordinates the Sebago to the Sea Trail, a 28-mile trail from Standish to Portland.
The Presumpscot Regional Land Trust has 16 public access Preserves and 1,840 acres of conserved lands with miles of public access trails and water access.
