Wayne boy makes mini-doughnuts for Dempsey Challenge

WAYNE — Henry Dunton, 8, who is running his third Dempsey Challenge this year with his mother, Tricia, raised money for the challenge by making and selling mini-doughnuts.
Henry made the batter on Saturday, Sept. 18. then cooked the doughnuts on Sunday morning before setting up his stand outside of Everything Kids in Winthrop. Henry made a variety, including plain, chocolate and blueberry.
His brother Sam, 10, helped out and took over the baking to keep the sales going as the flavors ran out.
Henry raised $161.51 for the Dempsey Challenge from his three-hour doughnut sale. One doughnut lover gave him a $50 bill, which left Henry astonished.
The Dempsey Challenge, is Sept. 25 and 26 in Lewiston and Auburn, as well as virtually this year, raises money for cancer research and advocacy.
