Red Cross helping out 14 families displaced by Lewiston fire

LEWISTON — The American Red Cross has been working around-the-clock to provide comfort and aid to those individuals displaced by Saturday’s multi-family fire on Blake Street.
To date the Red Cross sheltered 32 individuals at the Red Cross shelter at Lewiston High School and is assisting 14 families, which accounts for 57 individuals
The Red Cross Sunday transitioned clients from the high school to a local hotel as the school week began.
The Red Cross also provided comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire. Those affected are connecting with Red Cross caseworkers on a longer-term recovery plan. The Red Cross is also working with the City of Lewiston and several community partners to support these displaced individuals and get them back on their feet.
The Red Cross can provide assistance through the generosity of donors and the commitment of volunteers. “This is a true community effort, and we thank everyone who is pulling together to help these families,” Red Cross officials said.
