OAKLAND — Messalonskee High School girls soccer and the ShineOnCass Foundation will host its sixth annual girls youth soccer mentoring day, Shine On Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the grass soccer field, located behind Messalonskee Middle School.
The event is held to honor former Messalonskee soccer player and youth mentor Cassidy Charette, who died in a hayride accident Oct. 11, 2014.
Area girls ages pre-kindergarten to fifth grade may attend, free of charge. No soccer skills are required. In addition to fun field games, all attendees will get an autographed team poster and a ShineOnCass wristband, which earns them a snack and recognition at Lady Eagles’ home soccer games this season.
Register by sending the attending child’s name and age, parent or guardian name and contact info to shineoncass@gmail.com. Walk-ins are also welcome.
