Effort on to preserve historic Turner replicas

TURNER — A group of residents is working on restoring the replicas of the Turner Center Creamery and North Turner Covered Bridge.
The replicas were built by Delbert Sennett in observance of the Turner Bicentennial in 1986. They were placed for the public to enjoy and learn some town history. Sennett has since died and the buildings are in need of repair after being exposed to the elements. They were repaired once, but need an update.
The group would like to get a three-sided shelter built to house them to protect them further.
The group is seeking people to participate in the project, especially those with carpentry skills who would be willing to donate their time.
The group is meeting with selectmen at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at the Town Office to get the project off the ground. Anyone who’s interested in supporting the project so that future generations can enjoy and gain knowledge of what the buildings mean to the heritage of our town is encouraged to join in.
