Events across the area are scheduled for girls and boys entering kindergarten to fifth grade interested in finding out more about Cub Scouts.
Local open houses and other events are:
AUGUSTA
West Side — Cub Scout Pack 684 will host a Touch a Truck special event at Mill Park from noon 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.
Big rigs, police cars, construction trucks, and a variety of specialized vehicles will be on display, giving everyone an opportunity to learn more about how they function.
Boys and girls in grades K-5 are eligible to join, but all ages are welcome to the event. Hot dogs, drinks and chips available. There will also be a Pine Wood Derby race. For more information, call 207-620-2401.
East Side — Cub Scouts signup will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at American Legion Post 205, 396 Eastern Ave. For more information, contact Cubmaster Michael Fortin, pack603kv@gmail.com or 207-592-5361.
BELGRADE/SIDNEY/OAKLAND – Cub Scout Pack 454 is holding an introductory night for all Belgrade, Sidney and Oakland area youth entering kindergarten through fifth grade and their families on Monday, Sept. 13, and Sept. 20.
The event is for boys and girls interested in Scouting, their siblings and friends to learn about Scouting and have some fun.
The Sept. 13 event is at 6 p.m. at the Maine Arts Academy, 11 Goldenrod Lane, Sidney. The Sept. 20 event is 6 p.m. at Camp Bomazeen, 656 Horsepoint Road, North Belgrade and will include s’mores making.

PITTSFIELD
Girls and boys entering kindergarten through fifth grade can check out Cub Scout Pack 428 at an open house 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Masonic Lodge Hall, 138 Hamilton Terrace.
