Music for Mavis wraps up in September after great season

Aug. 202021

TURNER – The Music for Mavis Tuesday at the Gazebo free concert series will wrap up Sept. 21 and 28 after a successful summer.
Rabbi Scrulli and Lisa will perform at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21. Mary Murphy will perform Sept. 28.
The shows will go on rain or shine. The hat is passed to pay musicians, and the suggested donation is $10.
Organizers say the series this year had great attendance, with a summer filled with both old favorites, like Denny Breau and Mill Town Road Show, and new sounds from Sonja with her Blue Fuze and Gypsy Jazz. Ongoing attendance and support is crucial for continued programing and community enrichment.
Mavis, for whom the series is named, loved music. She played the saxophone and loved bands and dances, and often attended shows at gazebos in neighboring towns. Turner’s gazebo exists thanks to her love of music and community.
Those who wish may make a contribution in honor of loved ones, living and passed, who have brought music into their lives and wish it to continue for future generations.
