BELGRADE LAKES — A Coffeehouse Concert featuring John and Ellen Gawler will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the gazebo on the Village Green.
The show is free and open to the public, but a $5 donation is suggested.
The coffeehouse will also feature suprrise guests. The Gawlers accompany interweaving harmonies with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo and guitar. They are best known for their extensive collection of dance tunes in the Scots-Irish and French-Canadian traditions, but their repertoire may include a gutsy “Sweet Honey in the Rock,” an acapella work song, or an amusing ode to everyday life. Open mic time will follow the featured performers. Bring your own chairs and refreshments. In case of rain, the Coffeehouse will be held in Friendship Hall at the Union Church of Belgrade Lakes, and if it is held indoors, masks will be required.
