WINTHROP — Many of the Kennebec Land Trust’s 1,100 members will attend the trust’s annual meeting and celebration on Sunday, Aug. 22, which will be held outside at Camp Winnebago in Fayette.
Founded in 1988, the trust has conserved more than 7,200 acres and constructed more than 55 miles of trails on KLT land.
The meeting will begin with a tour of the nearby 120-acre Hewett Oak Hill Property, which will be followed by:
• a bring-your-own picnic lunch;
• a raffle of a painting of KLT’s Wakefield Cabins (featured on Maine Cabin Masters);
• summer intern research presentations;
• KLT’s annual awards, including the Howard Lake Lifetime Achievement Award.
The program will be capped by recognition of recent KLT land donors:
Jacobs-Stanley Conservation Area – 277 Acres, Monmouth – Charlie Jacobs and Rebecca Stanley;
Tyler Conservation Area – 50 Acres, Readfield – John W. and Henry M. Tyler;
Weston Woods Preserve – 55 Acres, East Winthrop – Bob and Jim Weston.
