Up next is the Maine Event, formerly the Maine Open, a 36-hole stroke-play championship, to be held Aug. 17 and 18 at Waterville Country Club, in Oakland.
Entries are open to all Maine professional and amateur golfers. Amateur players must be active in Golf Handicap Information Network, and be in good standing as members of a club on or before the date they submit their application. The field will be limited to 144 total players. The professional field will consist of the first 40 players to apply.
The remainder of the field is for male and female amateur golfers. Men will have 80 spots in the field and women will have 24 spots. In the event that any flight does not fill up, those spots will be allocated on a pro rata basis to the other flights.
In the event that an amateur flight is oversubscribed, the field will be chosen by taking the players with the lowest handicap indexes when entries close. The MSGA has the final say in determining the professional and amateur fields.
Entry deadline for all players is 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. To apply, visit www.mesga.org.
