Kennedy to perform at Fiddle on the Front Porch Aug. 18 in Monmouth

MONMOUTH — Fiddler Owen Kennedy will perform 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, on the Cumston Hall front porch, 796 Main St.
Bring your chairs and a picnic dinner, and enjoy Scottish fiddle music as well as a few New England favorites and stories from Kennedy’s 50 Fiddlers from 50 States project.
Kennedy, 16, of Winthrop, has won the Glenn Jenks Future in Music Prize from Bay Chamber Music School and performed in their Young Stars of Maine Prizewinners Concert in June.
Kennedy also earned a spot in the Junior US National Scottish Fiddle Championship in September, 2020, and took third place in the highly competitive Young Tradition Festival Contest in Vermont. Kennedy said he is excited to share his love of traditional music live and in person for a local audience. “Fiddle on the Front Porch” is hosted by Cumston Public Library, is free and open to the public.
