BRIDGTON — Rotarians Nicholas Orgo, Aaron Hagan, Jessica Putnam and Brian Conroy from the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club drove from Bridgton to Casco to deliver Citizen of the Month awards and gift cards to the eight Citizens of the Month honored during this school year.
Rotary did not meet in person during the pandemic, so the Citizen of the Months breakfasts couldn’t happen. The breakfasts were a highlight of almost every month, as students, their families and teachers came to accept awards.
Honored students were Becca Roy, Emma Cole, Ioanna Katsigiannis, Logan Davis, Shauna Hancock, Mikayla Allen and Cierra Grover.
“We kept thinking that we’d do a big dinner or at least a Zoom event, depending on how everything developed with COVID,” said George Klauber, head of the Youth Committee. “Well, it just couldn’t happen. And then one of the committee members came up with the idea of the signs and visiting each of the students and their families at home. So that’s what we did.
“We were able to connect with six out of the seven honorees. They were pleased we came by, were happy to pose for pictures and the students always love the Certificate and the gift card.”
Jessica Putnam, who assumed presidency of the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club on July 1, said she was thrilled to meet the students and their families. “They were so happy we took the time to deliver in person and spend a few minutes chatting.”
