Ricker named honory Androscoggin Historical Society director

AUBURN — Merton Ricker, of Lisbon Falls, has retired from the board of directors of the Androscoggin Historical Society and has been elected as an honorary director in recognition of his service to the society and to the Lisbon Historical Society.

He has been active and held offices in both societies.
Ricker has been called “a walking encyclopedia of Lisbon” and has presented several programs on local history. He joined the Androscoggin board in 2013, where he served as secretary and on the collections committee. One of his projects was a thorough review and reorganization of the society’s extensive photograph collection.
President Curtis Jack said, “During our meetings, we shall miss his probing questions and accumulated wisdom. He has served as a valuable link with the perspective of town historical societies.”
Ricker is retired from teaching English at Lisbon High School and has also taught in Japan. He is a member of Topsham Grange and served as a deputy of the Maine State Grange for Sagadahoc Pomona Grange.
