TURNER — Boy Scout Troop 187 welcomed three new Scouts — Alexander Chavez, Ayden Christner, and Kalix Marquis, all from Turner — on June 5 at Hood Farm.
Alexander and Kalix have been working diligently on earning Weblo rank before crossing over to the troop. Additionally, both met the requirements for the Arrow of Light. Ayden, a friend of both boys, recently joined and has quickly caught up to the pair in enthusiasm and motivation.
Weblos Scouts is a part of the Cub Scout program and began in 1967. It serves as a two-year transition for participants headed into Scouts. Cub Scouts typically spend the first year working on one of more than 20 activity badges under the leadership of a den leader, in an effort to advance to Weblos. During their second year, the Scouts participate in other activities, usually alongside the parent Scout troop. Participants, during that time, can achieve the Arrow of Light rank, the highest award in Cub Scouts.
