Leeds Food Pantry needs community help to get back up and running

LEEDS — The Leeds Food Pantry is looking for community members willing to commit three to six hours a month to helping out.
The Leeds Food Pantry is operated by the deacons of the Leeds Community Church, but it is truly becoming a community mission. The food pantry remained opened throughout the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to community support and the work of a small group of volunteers.
Each food pantry, volunteers pack boxes of dry goods, meat, produce, milk and bread for the 40-plus local families who regularly visit. It has also continued to deliver a monthly food box to the 20 residents of SpringRock Park.
As pandemic precautions are lifted, the food pantry is making plans to return to its usual client-choice model of shopping within the food pantry. The pantry needs help to keep the operation going. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks: lifting food boxes, stocking shelves, helping during client distribution times, light cleaning after each food pantry.
