AUGUSTA — The Bicycle Coalition of Maine and Augusta Cub Scout Pack 684 of St Michael’s Parish held a bicycle rodeo on June 12 at Augusta’s Mill Park.
More than a dozen youth came out with their bicycles and had fun while learning along the way. The city of Augusta provided safety cones, Aubochon Hardware donated lime for the lines and Augusta police came out to support the event and instruct on safety rules.
Each youth learned proper ways to care for their bikes and operate them safely and what equipment is necessary to ride safely in the community.
Cub Leader Shawn Thomas said, “I’ve got to say, we could not have asked for better weather for bike rodeo. Twelve to 15 kids came out and all had fun.”
Dawn Brunelle added, “A gorgeous day for a Bike Rodeo! Thanks to Augusta Maine Police Department for coming to direct some bicycle traffic. It was nice to be able to get the kids out for some fresh air, exercise and learn some bike safety.”
