Belgrade invites public to take part in community art project

BELGRADE — The Belgrade Public Library is hosting a public art project as part of this summer’s Community Read.
The Community Read, which began in April and continues through the subject, features “The Overstory,” by Richard Powers.
Among the events and activities, is the art project, which is open to all ages. The aim is to build a public art exhibition throughout the town.
Submissions should embody the beauty and wonder of nature, with a special focus on trees.All qualifying submissions will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate from a local business. Submitted art can include paintings and drawings, embroidery, quilting, poems, short stories, photographs and small sculptures.
Guidelines are:
Paintings, drawings and photographs must be between 3-by-5 inches and 11-by-14 inches.
Quilting and embroidery must be between 5-by-7 inches and 16-by-20 inches.
Poems and short stories can be no longer than two pages long.
Sculptures can be no larger than a cubic foot.
Submissions are accepted through July 15, and may be dropped off at the Belgrade Public Library, 124 Depot road, or emailed to library@townofbelgrade.com. Follow the library’s Facebook page for updates on the community read, or visit townofbelgrade.org/library.
