Groundbreaking held for new Edward Little High School

AUBURN — The Auburn School Department welcomed elected officials, students, faculty, city staff and residents on May 22 as they officially broke ground on the new Edward Little High School. Superintendent of Schools Cornelia Brown, Mayor Jason Levesque, School Committee Chair Karen Mathieu, EHLS Principal Scott Annear and freshman Class President Amalie Oinonen addressed the crowd gathered to commemorate the occasion. “This groundbreaking is the culmination of many years of research, design, collaboration, community outreach, hard work and dedication,” Brown said. “We are thrilled to be moving forward with an innovative, thoughtfully designed school that will meet the needs of our community and serve the children of Auburn for generations to come.” The project’s Auburn-based architects from Harriman were also present at the groundbreaking, as well as the team from AC Dudley, the project builders. Site work and construction on the building is anticipated to be completed by 2024. For information, visit NewELHS.org.
