BRIDGTON — Four of the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club’s eight new members over the past year and half, whose inductions were postponed, were celebrated with an induction ceremony led by President Julie Forbes on Thursday, April 29, at Stella’s on the Square.
New members received their pins and badges and other Rotary paraphernalia, including aprons, T-shirts, masks, Clynk bags and Rotary literature. John Eliason is a dentist, Aaron Hagan is a banker, Cathy Pinkham is the local health officer and Carol Rothenberg is a retired educator and environmental activist. All are new to Rotary except Eliason, who joined the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club 20 years ago and transferred to the Lake Region-Bridgton club after moving full time to Harrison last year. Still to be officially inducted are Peter Wright and Amy Dugas, both of Bridgton Hospital; Elizabeth Gemme, of Norway Savings Bank; and Joanne Cohn, a retired hospital administer. Wright and Cohn are long-time Rotarians who have moved to the area. Dugas and Gemme are new to Rotary.
“It is such an honor to welcome new Rotarians into our club,” Forbes said. “It is a great time to be a Rotarian. We have been able to be very active in the community during the past year. Also this year we are embarking on new projects related to the environment, having just formed an environmental committee. The committee’s goals are to partner with other organizations, to engage in family-friendly activities and to make efforts to enjoy outside events in the lakes area, from roadside trash pickup to trail maintenance.”
