MONMOUTH — Rhayna Poulin, a senior at Monmouth Academy, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is awarded in recognition of a high school senior’s academic excellence, citizenship, and leadership.
“Rhayna has distinguished herself as an outstanding leader not only at Monmouth Academy, but also the greater community and state of Maine,” said Principal Rick Amero in presenting the award. “Rhayna serves as the president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Class of 2021, team captain of Academic Decathlon, vice president of the Maine State Future Business Leaders of America, and as a member of the Maine Department of Education Student Cabinet. Rhayna has achieved an extraordinary level of academic excellence as evidenced by her Valedictorian status for the Class of 2021.”
Poulin will attend Harvard University or Yale University to major in psychology or cognitive science.
Poulin, Amero, and other award winners and their principals will participate in a live virtual scholarship drawing event at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 14. en $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA executive directors Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
