AUBURN – As Auburn continues to grow, with more than $20 million worth of projects approved at the April Planning Board Meeting, employers are citing workforce attraction as one of their biggest challenges.
As part of the city’s commitment to ensure that housing stock has room to grow, the Auburn City Council appointed a Comprehensive Plan Update Committee last fall to formulate recommended strategies on recreation, transportation, and land use changes for future growth of the city.
“The next step, before any decisions are made, is to hear from residents,” said Director of Planning and Permitting Eric Cousens. “Constructive input will help the City Council and Planning Board to be responsive to community desires.”
The City will be hosting several “Community Conversations,” focused on three separate areas of Auburn. These conversations will be an opportunity for staff to share draft Comprehensive Plan recommendations for Central Auburn, North Auburn and South Auburn and to hear feedback from the community. All will be held at the Auburn Senior Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park Road. All sessions begin at 6 p.m.
CENTRAL AUBURN: Tuesday, April 27
NORTH AUBURN: Thursday, April 2,
SOUTH AUBURN: Tuesday, May 4.
Meetings will include an overview of proposed changes, Q&A sessions, and optional one-on-one property reviews to explain how the draft would apply in your neighborhood.
