LEWISTON — Nicole Welch has been named superintendent of the Lewiston Recreation Division.
Welch, who has 23 years of recreation experience, began the job April 8.

Welch brings with her a passion for connecting people through lifelong recreation and leisure opportunities that promote community socialization, a news release announcing her appointment said.
She earned a bachelor of science in community health from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2006. Her municipal recreation background most recently includes developing new specialized community events, additional child care opportunities and senior citizen socialization outings for the town of Buxton. She is a member of the Maine Recreation and Parks Association, and is the incoming vice president for the board of directors. Her free time is filled with hiking, playing disc golf and volunteering for Maine Ultimate, a nonprofit dedicated to growing Ultimate Frisbee. She is also eagerly waiting for the return of road races in the coming months.
